When You're In Love with Books - The 38th Manila International Book Fair 2017

My love for books came from my mom's fondness of reading books. Every night before we go to sleep we would read a chapter or two with side comments. I remember how my mom would have that story telling time with hand puppets in her hand... I love story telling her classes where she can portray different characters from the book. Her love of books made her a book collector... but much they say she is a book hoarder... She got this mini library at home and they ask how did she came up with that huge collection of books... Well, she is getting these books from friends but most of all from Manila International Book Fair. Believe it or not MIBF has been our play ground all these years. But this year's MIBF is awesome... We got to be part of Light Network to cover the MIBF2017 and this got I and my mom so excited on everything the book fair offered us! I got lots of things to share within the week's event and this time we have more than a handful of books...

1. The Opening Ceremony

Every Social Media's desire was to get that perfect picture of the two Filipino legends we have in our land as they graced the opening of MIBF 2017
We were very lucky to be part of the opening ceremony of The Manila International Book Fair 2017 as Bro. Armin Luistro, our former Dep Ed secretary and Dr. Boy Abunda, graced the ribbon cutting as the go signal of everyone who feels in love with books... the best buys books at the best low price were there! We were toured around level one and it was a wonderland for me. I really can't wait to roam around the place as that pungent smell of books lingers in the air...Such wonderful inspiring messages from Bro. Armin and Dr. Boy had made me realized that I can be like them someday!

The view from the top was much more lovely for me. Everyone in the crowd was very eager to see them cut the ribbons.

My mom was the first teacher to come in... as the organizer of the National Teacher's Month over heard my mom talking to one of the organizer of the MIBF that she is a teacher, they had her signed, gave her a a box of cookies and cream coated biscuits and post for the day. I was so happy! I saw her everyday working so hard as a teacher and being appreciated even in just a box of chocolate made her day.

3. The Pledges for the Book Drive for the Teachers in Marawi

Bro. Armin Luistro opened to the public what he envisioned for the MARAWI teachers and most especially for children.

All smile for my mom. She hates books being burned and so she asked if they can be donated for a cost.
With all the chaos in Marawi for a long time now, Marawi Teacher are badly in need of books. Bro Luistro officiated the pledge where he encourage everyone in the audience and in our social media to reach out through donating books. I saw the pain in my mom's eyes. I asked her what was wrong and she said we have to do something to help the teachers. I am blessed to have a mom like her. As a teacher, for her it's not just all about her and her very low salary. She feels bad about fellow teachers in Marawi having no materials to use in their lesson. Actually, she said she wants to go to Marawi to help the teachers through craft workshop for free. I really hope the books her had brought could be a little help for the Marawi teachers.

4. My. Books at discounted Price!

Would believe that this new book by Justine can be bought in a discounted price? I didn't believe it too at first.
One of the requirements we have in class is a book report. I found mine and my classmates assigned books here at very low price! They even have a flash sale! As in "Oh My Gulay!" I really want to own everything and take advantage of the discounted price of every book they have in their shelves. When you're inlove with books you will really want to have all of them. too bad I only have a handful because we live in Laguna and it could be very hard for us to go home.

5. MIBF offered more than books...

My mom taking the free workshop in NBS event place.
It is a students' haven. They offer my life as a student! they got every thing I need and want their. I bought school supplies at the lowest price I ever wondered. They almost gave those school materials for free! Then they give freebies! Lots of them! They have educational games with awesome prizes. They have most of what my fellow teenagers had been eyeing as hobbies. The workshops were very awesome! I learned I lot from them! This was my first time to get that close enough to different authors with different genre. I could never imagine that I could be that close to them take there pictures... This book fair is more than what I dream of...

I had fun with my mom and I hope next year I and my mom would be here all week long of this event. Thank you very much!
